Healthy Teeth, Naturally!

What’s in your toothpaste?  Sorbitol? Ok that’s a synthetic sweetener, PVM/MA copolymer? what the hell is that?, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate? Something that makes it foam up and is thought to be carcinogenic.  The list can and does go on and on. Lots of ingredients that we don’t know what they are, what they do and even if they are safe!

If you know me, you know I want to know the WHY of the ingredient. So I went looking at the natural and DIY toothpaste that are out there, looking at all the ingredients and why people and companies use what they used. If they did not do something or were just “fillers” I removed them from my list.  So, after some experimenting I came up with a good blend of ingredients, all with a purpose and all of them either organic or natural.  (Some of the mineral powders are right from the ground and are not classified as “organic”.)

So let’s look at the major ingredients and what they do:

Bentonite Clay: extremely high in minerals, thought to help remineralize the teeth and acts as a mild cleaning agent.

Aluminum Free Baking Soda: an alkalizing agent, helps neutralize acids, mild cleaning agent.

Xylitol: a type of sugar acid frond in Birch and other trees. Has been found to help remove and kill bacteria in the mouth that are thought to contribute to tooth decay.  Used to help sweeten the product.

Ionic Minerals:  “Ionic” minerals are thought to be “body ready” AKA that your body and liver do not need to work on them so you can use them. Thought to help remineralize the teeth.

Vitamin C w/ bioflavonoids: thought to help strengthen the gums and improve gum health.

Organic Thyme Essential oil and Colloidal Silver: Thought to have strong antibacterial properties.

Organic Peppermint essential oil and Chlorophyll:  breath fresheners.

Himalayan Pink Salt: acts as a natural preservative, can be antibacterial, is a astringent that can help tighten the gums. High in minerals.

Other ingredients include purified water, glycerin and grapefruit seed extract.

To use just apply enough to cover a wet toothbrush.  Brush the teeth for at least two minutes then rinse or you can just spit out and let the minerals keep doing their job.

This product is fluoride free and kid safe!

Comes in a 2oz bottle for $4.50. If you brush at least 2 times a day this should last you over a month, maybe two!.
